Our Club

The Lone Star Bernese Mountain Dog Club was formed in May of 1991 by a small group of Texas enthusiasts located in the Dallas/Ft. Worth area.  We continue today as a widespread, but very dedicated, group.  The LSBMDC is a regional club of the Bernese Mountain Dog Club of America (BMDCA).

The objects of our club are to provide a source of education and support for fanciers of Bernese Mountain Dogs; to encourage and promote quality in the breeding of purebred Bernese Mountain Dogs and to do all possible to bring their natural qualities to perfection; to urge members and breeders to accept the standard of the breed as approved by the American Kennel Club as the only standard of excellence by which Bernese Mountain Dogs shall be judged; to do all in our power to protect and advance the interests of the breed by encouraging sportsmanlike competition at dog shows and obedience trials; and to conduct sanctioned and licensed specialty shows and obedience trials under the rules of the American Kennel Club.  A copy of the LSBMDC Constitution and ByLaws can be found at LSBMDC Constitution and ByLaws.

The Club meets quarterly and attempts to provide meetings throughout the state of Texas. Meetings are often held in conjunction with club functions and other dog related events.  Previously, we have offered AKC Canine Good Citizen Tests and educational meetings pertaining to the health and well-being of our breed, as well as fun times with our dogs, including a Capital Walk (followed by play at the reserved dog park and free barbeque lunch) in Austin  and the Wurstfest Walkfest in New Braunfels, Texas.

We typically meet in January (D/FW area), March/April (tba), July (Houston Dog Show) and November (D/FW area); and try to have at least 2 fun outings each year in the Spring and Fall. Summer activities come to a standstill while our breed hibernates in the cold a/c!

The LSBMDC is run by our membership so we are always looking for fresh opinions to enhance our club. Please join us!
