Unfortunately, Lone Star Bernese Mountain Dog Rescue has had another very active year. This has been one of our busiest and as the popularity of the breed increases we anticipate even more Berners coming to our group. 

All donations to Lone Star BMD Rescue are tax deductible [we are a 501(c)(3) charity], and it ALL goes directly to helping with medical bills!!  We are an all-volunteer rescue group with very limited income from donations and adoption placements.  Any amount, no matter how small helps, and donations of any size would be gratefully accepted.  Your contribution will help with the health of this amazing breed and allow us to keep helping and finding wonderful homes for these animals that give so much and ask so little.

Many dogs that come through us are in need of some medical care.  They  may be examined by a vet, all shots brought up-to-date, if necessary he/she is dewormed, and each is tested for heartworm.  Most must be spayed or neutered.  Some are special needs dogs that require even greater efforts.

Any detected or suspected health problems are checked and treated if possible.  In the past we have treated for Erlichiosis, heartworm infestation, intestinal parasites, and even a total hip replacement on one young Berner with severe hip dysplasia. As you can imagine, vet bills add up quickly.
